I’m so saddened by the news yesterday! DOOM is even bigger than hip-hop music to me! The MC, the producer, the characters, the villain…to me he is my super hero. A legend and innovator. I was really sad when I found out of his sons passing about two years ago. At least they’ve reunited.
In 2010 I was able to see MF DOOM perform thanks to Flaco Productions and Miguel Pizarro. I remember the feeling when Miguel sent me a picture of an unmasked DOOM! Great memories! I’m forever thankful!
In 2015 Madvillain were booked to perform on the Vanguard festival in Copenhagen. I bought tickets as soon as I heard the news. First Madlib dropped off, later also DOOM.
I’ve recorded a tribute. Rest in Peace MF DOOM, forever rhymes like dimes!
Thank you to DJ Cucumber Slice aka Kool Bob Love aka Bobbito Garcia and Fondle ’Em Records for releasing DOOMSDAY in 1999!
