The Ecstatic is finally being reissued! The Ecstatic was Mos Def’s fourth studio album and it was released in 2009 through Downtown Music/Records.

The track ”Priority” is produced by Preservation and samples Bobby Hebb’s (1970) ”Flower”.

Possibly due to legal issues The Ecstatic is not available on streaming services. The vinyl reissue released by legendary Rhymesayers Entertainment consists of 16 tracks, just like the original reissue. However, the reissue is pressed on red vinyl. There’s a deluxe edition (US$200) that includes a book and two extra tracks pressed on 7″. These are available through the Rhymesayers website as a Standard and as a Deluxe edition.

Obviously, if you never got a copy of the original release we definitely recommend you to get a copy of the reissue. On production duties on The Ecstatic are Preservation, Georgia Anne Muldrow, J Dilla, Madlib, Mos Def, Mr. Flash, The Neptunes and Oh No.
